From wallpapers and stickers to chat emotes, this app from Digital Cosmos offers a lot of possibilities and opportunities for fans of anime shows and internet culture. Once installed, you only need to enable the app and characters from different properties will start appearing everywhere on your phone.
While it has a very small library at first, Shimeji lets you enjoy a growing yet personalized experience by downloading additional packages. It basically combines Dogotchi: Virtual Pet with WAStickerApps Love Stickers Pack.
Characters popping in and out of your phone
The main feature of Shimeji is that it basically adds anime and gaming characters to your screen. Whether you’re on standby, talking to friends via chat apps, or even browsing the Internet, you can expect various animated figures popping in and out of your screen. It features characters such as Sans from the Undertale game or the titular character in Black Rock Shooter.
The app only takes up 6.5MB of storage. Even after downloading additional character packs, it doesn’t take up too much space on your device. Basically, you only need to install the app, enable it, and that’s it. You can download additional characters as needed, but you can only have six available mascots at any given time. Aside from the additional character packs, you can also download extra animations for them.
Other features, however, are hidden behind a paywall. This includes certain characters and animations. Also, the free version shows the characters on your screen, provided you’re not running any fullscreen app at the time. Other than the need to purchase content, the only disadvantage to this app is that it lacks a way to make navigation easier. A search bar would’ve helped given the volume of content it has.

It has a simple concept of operation: you just activate it once and start watching different characters move, walk, and do random antics on your screen. You have six slots to choose which characters appear, plus a whole lot of additional characters and animations you can unlock.
